Gender Equality

Disadvantages/Issues

Men: They don't want to compete with women, and feel they don't need to which creates a rise in tension. They are getting mad because women are "stealing" their job

Women: They feel that they are trapped in this loop where they cant follow their beliefs because men are easily present and are treated better with more opportunities (e.g. some women cant get a job because they are married and the company doesn't want them leaving on maturity leave)

Companies
Companies face backlash as they are seen to favor men more

As they begin to change fro G.E reasons, they know feel that they have to chose more women and are facing distraught decisions that are angering the male workers

Action

Law
The Equal Pay Act of 1963 is a United States labor law amending the Fair Labor Standards Act, aimed at abolishing wage disparity based on sex.

The Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 replaced the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Act 1999. The strengthened legislation aims to improve and promote equality for both women and men in the workplace.

Portests
Thousands join Women's March in London for gender equality, protesters hear speeches from activists at Time’s Up rally in support of equal rights

Fight for equality is far from over, protesters at Calgary Women's March say: Thousands of people took to Stephen Avenue for second-annual Women's March (Jan. 2018)

Advantages

Future
the evolution of our economy that can benefit the country and those in it

Stronger work places and the feeling of inclusiveness between everyone that minimizes violence against society and the government

Men benefit from gender equality because they come home to a happy wife and kids, which improves mood and overall emotion

Women benefit from gender equality because they are able to have fair job chances that allows them to be independent (e.g. single moms etc) without the struggle of well fair which overall improves their mood and well being

Kids benefit from gender equality because they come home and grow up in a positive and inclusive environment

Government/Country
The country benefits from gender equality as it becomes a more diverse and stronger economy with less violence

The government receives less backlash and more female workers that can uphold skills to help the economy and country

Perspectives

Young Men/Women
Women: They are beginning to feel discouraged in comparison to their male peers

Women: Are learning that they 're NOT equal to men and that their voice doesn't matter; affecting the future of our world

Men: They learn what/how gender equality is presented from older role models (father, uncles, grandparents) steering them down a negative path

Men: However, as society develops they are beginning to understand the diversity and change in needed revolving primarily around women but how it affects THEM too

Society
Earlier, society believed that gender equality wasn't a problem. As society develops mind sets are changing

Younger generations are beginning to adapt the equality mindset that older generations had to learn to understand

Society are seeing this issue as a negative: more women are wanting to be in the workforce that doesn't involve traditional jobs and are asking for equal pay etc and a positive: the evolution of our economy that can benefit the country and those in it

Women
People see their opinion as "useless" since they believe that gender equality is just connected to women, which causes them to feel as discriminated against

They feel as if their "secondary" to the work and social world

Decided to take a stand, now asking for equal rights, pay and job opportunities in comparison to their male co workers

Men
Men play a large role in gender equality

In order to see a change in perspectives, men must play an active role in G.E

When men are active in this issue, people see that its more than just consistent bias women-based opinions

When men put on a "don't care" perspective on this issue, it teaches their male relatives/younger generation that it's a false and unimportant issue
