Desktop

Would be impractical to travel with, mostly stuck in one location. Can be quite large and heavy. Needs to be near an outlet for power, they are expensive, not very personal as they are usually shared among multiple people in a household, some programs can be hard to learn and use quickly.

Notebook

Quite expensive, price comparable to a regular desktop with less capability, limited battery life, fragile.

Good for travel, can be used for art due to stylus, decent processing speed.

Small, light, stylus capability, and can have a swivel screen.

Super capable of most tasks, can download programs like microsoft 365, google apps, etc. Great for larger goals rather than casual use. People today with good desktops can work from home, for example my aunt is able to work from home as her desktop has all the capablity needed for er to perform her job, which would be a lot more difficult with a smaller device with less power. No charging is needed as it plugs in.

charteristics

Set up on a desk, quite large, could be a few different types such as a "all in one", a pc, etc. Has large capability, good for gaming, business work, very powerful processing power. A household would typically own "one per home" rather than family members each getting their own, however, it would not be unheard of.

Mobile Devices

Disadvantages

Very expensive for devices with limited processing power, can be nearly as much as a custom gaming desktop, are not great for professional/business use. Government can track you depending on what terms and services you agree to. Limited battery life, may only last half a decade before you may need/want a new one, easy to lose, fragile, addicting.

Advantages

Very practical in public, great for travelling wherever you may go. Plays music, are very user friendly, very personal devices, has games, good for safety reasons like calling people in an emergency, or 911. Can be used to get taxi services like uber, and can order food through certain apps. Texting is a very popular form of communication today due to its convience and laid back slang and punctuation usage.

Characteristics

super small devices, usually pocket sized, equipped with gps, internet access, an app store, plays music. Can be wearable, and track things like location, heart rate, timing, breaths per minute, and sleep. Can take photos, videos.
