In the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Forest Area, a concerted effort has been made to establish a nature reserve specifically for the protection of the Algonquin wolf. Measures include limiting human and wolf interactions by surrounding the reserve with barriers that do not intersect public roads or urban areas.
