Prince Edward Island(P.E.I.) & Canada East Comparison between 1830--1860

Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.) and Canada East experienced significant changes between 1830 and 1860. Discovered in different centuries, P.E.I. by Jacques Cartier in 1534 and Canada East by John Cabot in 1491, both regions developed distinct economies and populations.

Discovered by French explorers Jacques Cartiers during the 1534

1850s, many Irish peoploe immagrated into PEI. Thus, the population in PEI grew into 62,000 when orginally prior was 4,000
1840, aproxmately 650,000 people lived in Canada East . About 510,000 people were mostly French Canadians who lived in Canada East for centuries

Occupation

P.E.I.
Fishing and farm were not uncommon in P.E.I, many civilians often rent or sell the land and many sold their boats because of the high demand in fishing and farming occupations.

Mi'kamq group who was one of the indigenous tribes has been on the island for approximatly 10,000 years before the europeans have inhabited in Prince Edward Island
Canada East
The French imagrated into Canada East and the rest of the group was a combination of indigenous people and loyalists who fled from their original country
