The main conflict is the fact that Mrs Bixby received a mink coat from the Colonel that was so expensive so his husband shouldn´t see it because he would ask who gave it to her and he will know that aunt Maude didn’t gave it to her because she doesn´t have the money for buying that kind of gift
¿What did she do?
She went to a Pawnbroker´s Shop and gave it for fifty dollar with the deal that she will come back on Monday

¿What is this story about?
Mrs. Bixby and Mr. Bixby were a couple who lives in New York, Mr. Bixby was a dentist and Mrs. Bixby was a big active woman. Mr. Bixby used to take a train to Baltimore once a month to supposedly visit her aunt, but the real purpose of her trips was to visit a rich man known as The Colonel. The wait between meetings made them fonder and each separate occasion became an exciting reunion. When Mrs. Bixby was waiting the train back to NY the night before Christmas, when she received a gift from the colonel, it was a big black and blue expensive mink coat. She couldn´t believe it, it was a really great gift, but it came with a bad new, she wouldn´t see The Colonel anymore, also he said that she could use the excuse that her aunt gave this present to her. When she read that, she started to worry about what she could say to his husband.
And...¿How this ends?
When she went to Mrs. Bixby´s office, he gave her a fur neckpiece, this made her mad but she couldn´t express this with him so she decided to leave the office. When she was leaving, she saw Miss Pulteney looking so god, so this was because she was wearing the big blue and black expensive mink coat that she leaved in the Pawnbroker´s store where her husband went.
But.. ¿What happened?
Then when she arrived, she went to a Pawnbroker´s store and she pawned the coat at fifty dollars. When she came home her husband was waiting for her, so she told him she found a pawn ticket so his husband told her that he would go and see what it is. She tried to refuse but at the end she accepted that he goes to the store.
