Magic

Since the fairies make up and are included in a lot of the story, magic is a constant theme in the play. The magic creates a very surreal world.

Love's Difficulty

An example is that the story is a love square, which doesn't make it easy for anyone to have a smooth relationship with another.

Story shows that love isn't a specific smooth path, and that it will always have it's twists and turns as the "love story" between people moves on.

Settings

City of Athens, Greece

Where the wedding will take place, as well as where most of the characters live.

Calm and civilized location.

Forest

The forest was where the victims (Demetrius, Lysander, and Titania were given the flower juice.

Location of chaos and anarchy.

Conflicts

Helena and Hermia

I believe that there will be some conflict between the two females since both Demetrius and Lysander went from loving Hermia to loving Helena. I think Hermia will start to get jealous of Helena.

Hermia and Egeus

Egeus wants Hermia to marry Demetrius instead of Lysander, however Hermia does not want to do so.

Characters

Egeus

Hermia's father. Only wants Hermia to marry Demetrius, if she doesn't, Egeus is willing to kill her. Complains about this issue to Theseus.

Robin Goodfellow

Commonly known as Puck. Oberon's jester, mischevious fairy. Causes chaos by transforming Bottom's head into a donkey's and applying the flower juice to Lysander instead of Demetrius.

Hippolyta

Starts off the play. Getting married to Theseus.

Theseus

Starts off the play. Getting married to Hippolyta. Duke of Athens, Greece.

Nick Bottom

Head was turned into a donkey head by Puck (Robin Goodfellow). He is a weaver. Interacts with Titania a lot as she is in love with him.

Titania

Married to Oberon. Kind enough to take the Indian boy under her wing. One of the "victims" of the flower juice from Oberon. Was in love with Oberon, but now she is in love with the man with the donkey head, because of the flower juice.

Oberon

Married to Titania. Found the flower juice to drop in Titania's eyes. Puck is his friend, but also somewhat of a servant for Oberon. Oberon was the root cause of the flower juice issue currently happening. King of the fairies.

Lysander

One of the main characters, part of the "love square". Loves Hermia. Friends with Demetrius. One of the "victims" of the flower juice.

Subtopic

Demetrius

One of the main characters, part of the "love square". Loves Hermia, does not love Helena. Friends with Lysander. One of the "victims" of the flower juice.

Hermia

One of the main characters, part of the "love square". Loves Lysander, Lysander & Demetrius both love her. Friends with Helena. Father (Egeus) will only allow her to marry Demetrius.

Helena

One of the main characters, part of the "love square". Loves Demetrius, but he doesn't love her. Friends with Hermia, the woman who Demetrius loves. Neither Demetrius or Lysander love her until Puck drops the flower juice in their eyes to make them fall for Helena.
