Welcome to NETINT’s Voices in Video.

Today’s episode is about VR and Multiview - a technology that lets your viewers choose among different available feeds from the same or different events to customize their own immersive viewing experience.

We’re talking with Rob Koenen, founder and chief business officer of Tiledmedia, which develops and supplies VR and multiview technologies to content publishers like Sky SPorts, BT Sports,  and LG U+.

If Rob’s name sounds familiar, it should. Rob has worked with codecs going back to the start of H.264, when he founded and served as president of the MPEG Industry Forum

He also founded and served as the first president of the VR Industry Forum, and has initiated and guided work on MPEG-I, the standard for Immersive Media in MPEG.

Rob - you’re a busy guy - thanks for joining us.

So, tell me about multiview

Tiledmedia’s Mosaic Multiview streaming solution enables multiple video streams to simultaneously play on one screen. Each user can fully customise their own screen for the most engaging and immersive viewing experience. Let them choose what they want to watch, let them adjust the size and number of feeds on their screen. Freely mix in additional features like graphics and statistics.

Mosaic Multiview is fully customisable and still massively scalable. That’s because it requires no per-user encode or any other per-user processing.

This solution is available across mobile devices and easy to integrate for the service providers. Also, Mosaic Multiview supports live as well as on-demand streams, with glass-to-glass latency down to as low as a few seconds if required.

The possibilities are endless.

Sports - action multiple ball - multie camera -

Next - multigame - march madness, NFL sundday, Tennis, Wimbleton/US open

EPG - now are visual - still pictures usually wrong - EPG - everything is moving - can move in front of you.

applies to fast channels - could learn what you watch -

Security/surveillance - first responders - tablet -

Conferencing - multiple view - can do this with 2-3 second latency.
