I think this is false, if they were not worried there wouldn't be so many superstitions about luck and the future.

I find that this is more of an idea of older generations in my family, as my grandparents would say that I need to go to school and become a doctor or lawyer, while my parents have value more of what makes me happy and to do something i'm passionate about. Views in the more recent generation is more feminine, which is valuing people and life.

My aunt & uncle have their own nail business which is family owned. Everyone that works there is either close friends or family. Both my cousins (their daughters) and my older sister work together. Sometimes my younger sister and I would come and help as well.
