Assignment 1 - Class Rules

Judgement Free

Don't judge your classmates: treat others the way you would want to be treated, everyone is at different levels and they are all trying their best to succeed! Let them and encourage them! No one got better from belittling others!

Ask Questions

Don't be afraid to ask for help: Coming from someone who has zero experience in dance, asking questions is the only way you will be able to fully succeed, your classmates and teacher are a built in support group!

Set Goals

Everyone can have a goal: no matter what level you are at as dancer there will always be area to improve. My goal at the beginning of the year was to learn how to do a pirouette!

Remain Positive

Be optimistic towards new challenges and ideas: Don't shoot down every idea a classmate has, or even worse make fun of their input. Stay positive towards the new choreography that you have to learn

Stay Safe

Follow the class rules to ensure the safety of yourself and others: stay focused on the dance, no horseplay or fighting, dance moves only.

Stay Clean

Keep the classroom clean to ensure safety: Don't come into the class with dirty shoes, this could cause hazards for dancers and potential injuries, if you are going to bring a drink in, make sure it is in a sealed bottle, and it can't cause a mess, the same applies to food!

Smile/Have fun

Smiles make others feel comfortable: Even if you are feeling down about a new dance or struggling to find psoitivity, put a smile on your face so that you don't drag your classmates down with you. Even if you don't like an idea, it doesn't mean your partner dislikes it.

Engage

Be an important member of the class: engage in the activities with a smile on your face, put your hand up for questions and don't be afraid to share your ideas.

Acknowledge the Opinions and Ideas of Others

Let your classmates be a part of the final product: Use the ideas of others when choreographing a dance and keep your negative opinions to yourself. If you don't like the idea, build on it in a respectful way.

Respect Others

Be a respectful audience member: clap when it is time, give feedback when asked for, stay quiet during the performance, stay focused on the performer.
