Gases

Butane is a highly flammable gas commonly used in lighters. It is stored as a liquid in metal containers and is converted into gas for use. In enclosed spaces, any presence of butane gas can be hazardous, potentially igniting fires if exposed to flames.

Gases

Harmless gases

Living
Oxygen

Oxygen is not an inert gas

Fire needs oxygen

Needed for living things

Non-electric
Nitrogen

Nitrogen does not react with items

Nitrogen is an inert gas

Inert means does not react

Used mainly in packaging

Hydrogen

Used mainly in floating balloons

Balloons float until 9,000+metres high it will pop because there is too much pressure

Butane

Used commonly in lighters

You might be wondering if butane is gas why is it heavy when it is in the metal container well it's not gas its actually liquid in form it passes through a filter or a pipe which converts it into gas for ready to use

If there is butane in the air do not on any fire appliances if you do you will cause fire in the air and eventually burn down the house. But if you are in the open space/outdoors you will not have to worry as the butane gas moves around freely.

Example of harmful gases are:
Arsine

Highly toxic

Highly flammable

Greenhouse gases

Also Known As Carbon dioxide

Absorbs sunlight and traps heat

Causes global warming

Found outside greenhouses and more places

Chlorine

Chlorine turns to gas when it reaches room temperature and chlorine is toxic when in gas form

Carbon monoxide

also known as silent killer
