Jefferson's Inaugural

Laying out the foundation of presidency

The speech outlined his presidency. He included his ideas and thoughts in his plan. He was able to understand the diversity of America and help those whose suffrage elected him in the first place.
"The aprobation implied by your suffrage is a consolation to me for the past; and my future solicitude will be to retain the good opinion of those who have bestowed it in advance, to concliate that of others by doing them all the good in my power, and to be instrumental to the happiness and freedom of all."
The significance was that Jefferson told the American people his plan ahead of time so that they could be aware of his actions further on. He did this so that he could have guidelines for future use.

Establish A Good Government

This concept is still used today, because a good government is smart and wise with it's money.
In order to make the people happy, Jefferson says that it's government needs to be wise and frugal. Government does not need to be expensive with their decisions.
"A wise and frugal government...this is neccessary to close the circle of our felicities."

United Citizens

"Let us then, fellow cititzens, unite with one heart and one mind..."
Significant to American society because he wants people to believe that our gov't is the best in the world and that each individual should take it as a personal concern
Every man should be able to speak freely and have their own religion. Nothing should be based upon party.
