Balam
Droning BusinessmanBalam is a powerful Feather Serpent-Born merchant who sits on the Council of Elders and the Council of Merchants, and has been involved in the rubber and maiz trades since he was young. Not much is known about his childhood. He dresses formally, but simply.
Xipit
Precocious High Priestess of HuitzXipit is the human High Priestess of Huitz. At fifteen, she is the youngest person to ever hold this role, which she won by challenging the last priest, her uncle, and killing him in combat. Her ears and arms are notably shredded and scarred from all the auto-sacrifices she has made to Huitz. She is an unbelievably talented spear thrower, and her atlatl is said to be forged by Huitz himself. She can drink anyone under the table.
Aketzalli
Aketzalli is the half-elf High Priestess of the New Temple of Tlaloc. She is wise, insightful, motherly. Her incisors have been sharpened, like most of the Tlaloc priesthood. Her hair is long and tightly braided, evocative of the water she serves, and her skin has been tattooed blue in lines. She wears marigolds in her hair and around her neck, and a circlet of heron feathers.
Yaotl
Yaotl has a reputation for being a dummy. The only reason he’s on the Council of Elders is because everyone is so obsessed with Ulama. Yaotl was once himself a popular ulama player, but he’s now in his thirties and his right hip is basically a trash heap.
Cuauhtemoc III
Cemilli
Nonbinary Head of the House of XochipilliCemelli inherited their position from their mother and sits on the Council of Elders. Cemelli comes from old money and is close to Cuauhtemoc and his family.

Dark Priestess of Old Tlal, Nemesis of AketzalliSometimes called The Crying Woman, Sacnite has been locked in battle with Aketzalli over the direction of the religion of Tlal for decades. After successfully capturing her staff and storing it deep in the temple of New Tlaloc, Aketzalli thought she was rid of Sacnite for good, but Sacnite’s resurgence (and her posing as Aketzalli in Tenoch) is deeply troubling, as is the potential relationship between Sacnite and Tezcat, whose mirror served as Aketzalli’s prison while Sacnite slipped into her chair.
