A really huge amount of energy is bound up in every material thing. For eg. if you are an average sized person, you will contain within your modest frame enough potential energy up tp 7 * 10^18 joules.

Everything has this kind of energy trapped within it, we are just not good at getting it out.

Even a uraniam bomb-the most enegetic thing we have produced- releases less than 1% of the energy it could release.
