he seems to be a famous sculptor and the father of kafka

nakata is an old man who lives from a subsidy because he is not that bright. when he was a kid he got in a coma because of some mysterious reason. when he woke up, his mind was one blanc page and he was not able to ever write or read anymore.

nakata can talk to cats, and earns a little money by returning cats to their owners. after he kills johnny walker, he is unable to talk to cats anymore but he gets powers in return, he can make animals fall from the sky

oshima runs the libary and gives kafka a shelter. oshima is actually a woman, which looks like a man.
