Adaptation of Plants in the Rainforest

Survival in low light

Structural adaptations

Reproduction

Seed disersion

Mostly through animals and wind dispersion

Pollination

Through insects & wind

Rainforest formation

Top layer(canopy)-Made up of the highest trees in the rainforest

Middle layer-Consists of smaller trees

Undergrowth-Made up of generally shrubs and bushes

Note that since little or no light penetrates the canopy, the plants adapt by having strong, woody stems and larger leaves

Large leaves

Greater surface area

Grow on trees that form the canopy of the rainforest

These plants are known as creepers since they grow on trees for support and norishment(parasites)
