Everyone needs to know about this but most importantly, students from grades one to twelve must know this because kids are mostly bullied because of their race in schools compared to the outside world. Many kids from all ages face racism in school because their peers don’t have any idea about different races and how everyone should be treated equally. In order to let students know the importance of all races and what we can do to stop racism, a speaker who has faced racism before/still does should go to all schools; elementary, middle, and secondary, and show them a presentation on racism and how they’re being treated everyday. By showing students a percentage of how many people face racism everyday at school, whether it’s from their peers or their teachers, they will definitely learn something from the presentation and use it effectively in the outside world. I believe this is the best format because if someone educates them about their personal experiences on racism, students get to have a glimpse of what it feels like to be treated differently. If someone, that has never faced racism, talks about racism in the world, it won’t be as effective as hearing it from someone that has experienced it. I’m certain that we will change people, if not everyone, about the idea of racism and to what extent racism exists in Canada.
I am advocating for Tyrone Edwards and all the other people from the Black community that have, and are still, facing racism in today’s society.
People from the Black community get the least amount of income compared to any other race (Graph number 1).
The amount of hate crime victims are mostly Black people (Graph number 2).
The amount of hate crimes reported for were mostly from the black community than any other race (Graph number 3).
Black people are mostly to be victims of hate crimes than other races (Graph number 4).
