(just so you know, Holika had a blanket which made her immune to fire meaning she wouldnt burn in the fire) So the king asked his sister, Holika, to trick Prahlad in going in a fire with Holika.
The plan of the king and holika was to take holika's blanket and wrap in around her, but then trick Prahlad to going in the fire so he would burn up but Holika would stay safe.
So they tricked Prahlad but then when they went in the fire Prahlad grabed the blanket and saved himself before he burned up so then Holika burned up and so holi is celebrated to celebrate the victory of good. fun fact is that on the first day of holi people make fire and burn wood up.
