Thesis: The Study of Mindset reveals the way you look at things and how that thinking affects your self esteem and the way you learn. A growth mindset means that you believe that your abilities can be developed through hard work. A fixed mindset means that you believe that your abilities can never change.

What is a mindset?
A mindset is a set of beliefs that shape how you make sense of the world and yourself.

A growth mindset is when people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work

People with a growth mindset are willing to be more capable to learn more giving themselves a better opportunity to succeed

People with a growth mindset believe that there is no end point and there's always room for development

intentional effort (asking for help/mentorship, persistence (not giving up) - Put in own words

People with a growth mindset always aren't afraid to ask help and don't have an ego.

A fixed mindset is the belief that abilities are innate and unchangeable

When having a fixed mindset you think once something goes wrong you give up and have no hope for the better

Someone could try something new then give up almost instantly after failure

When you have a fixed mindset you see that your basic traits are not changeable and there is no room to grow

Provide an example...consider using the puzzles example from pages 3-4. "I brought the children one at a time to solve a series of puzzles. One boy cries out "I love the challenge"

How do mindsets influence motivation to learn?
Having a fixed mindset will limit your learning and convince you that you can never grow from failure.
Specifically having a growth mindset helps you learn and not getting discouraged
Where does a person gain self esteem?
People with growth mindset didn't want people who would pick on them or undetermine their self esteem.

Focusing on effort helps cultivate a stronger self esteem.

If you give effort in everything you won't have much of an ego.

For people with a fixed mindset their self esteem is tied to performance and validation
