Queen Levana is trying to form an alliance with Earth, through marrying Prince Kai, and she is already beginning to assert her control.

MOTIVATION

Cinder

Cinder cares for her sister, and feels partly responsible for he falling ill, which is what motivates her to help Dr. Erland find an antidote.

Cinder knows Queen Levana is cruel and manipulative, so she doesn't want her to take control over the Eastern Commonwealth, and because of her feelings for Kai, she doesn't want him to have to marry her.

Prince Kai

Prince Kai needs the antidote in order to be a good emperor, and serve his people, and both of his parents have died from letumosis, making him want the antidote even more.

Prince Kai's father, Emperor Rikan, always warned against a marital alliance with Queen Levana, as he knew her cruel, manipulative ways, so Prince Kai is trying to honor his father and protect his empire from Queen Levana, knowing she will do whatever it takes to have power.

OBSTACLES

What prevents your character from accomplishing their goal?

The antidote requires materials not found on Earth.

Queen Levana is extremely powerful, as she is able to manipulate minds, and she has an antidote to Letumosis, which means she has leverage over them.

CLIMAX

Cinder goes to the ball to convince Prince Kai not to marry Queen Levana, but the queen sees her. Queen Levana then very nearly makes Cinder shoot herself, but Cinder is able to fight her mind manipulation and runs from the castle. When she does this, her prosthetic foot falls off, revealing herself as a cyborg.

OUTCOME

Cinder is arrested, and learns from Dr. Erland that she is the lost Princess Selene of Luna. He then warns Cinder that she must find a way to escape, as Queen Levana now knows who she is, and will try to hunt her down.

Kai knows Cinder is both Lunar and a cyborg, and he is faced with decisions about how he will deal with the threat posed by Luna, particularly Queen Levana.
