Flexible Assessment & Meeting the Needs of all Students

Unit planning should be based around the assessment process

Students must be made aware of the assessment methods being used

Students must be involved in the learning and assessing process (learning goals, success criteria)

Students should have multiple opportunities to demonstrate their learning

Teachers should take into account different life & learning experience

Instruction and assessment are ONE - they must go hand in hand

Instruction should focus on the most essential principles and skills - this is what students should be assessed on

Assessments should respond to the multiple learning styles and intelligences

Assessment must be made flexible and should acknowledge the different skills of all students

Student IEPs: Strengths, needs, accommodations, modifications

Effective formative assessment includes: Data gathered from every student and instruction based on this data

Increases student achievement

Allows teachers to adjust instruction based on results - needs & strengths

Must happen frequently

Personalized Learning = Personalized Assessment

Reflection is a critical component of the assessment process - both throughout and after a unit
