Culture

Refers to a shared values, ideas, language, rituals, practices and activities that can be used to describe them (Novak et al., 2018, p.77).

Buffering Theory

According to buffering theory, a society that respect elders and gives them significant roles tends to shield them for setbacks and social devaluation in later life (Novak et al., 2018, p. 78).

When both daughters believed that their father should be placed in the long term care to get round the clock care but their mother Yu Yan was adamant that her husband should remain at home and be cared by the family member. Yu Yan said "It is our responsibility and honor to care for him . You know that girls! I raised you to respect and care for family until the end". Yu Yan cared for his husband in their home as best as she could and her daughters visited when they can get away from work and families.

Ethnicity

Ethnicity can be described as the country of birth, birthplaces of grandparents, religions, cultural heritage, or identifying with oneself with an ethnocultural group (Novak et al., 2018, p. 76).

Multiple Jeopardy Theory

According to multiple jeopardy theory, disadvantage related to age, gender, ethnicity, and race compound one another (Novak et al., 2018, p. 78).
