Adverbs are usually placed at the end of the
sentence, however, in some cases they should
be placed at the beginning.

FREQUENCY

What is it used for?

They are the ones we use to express
or describe how often we perform an action.

There are 6 main adverbs of
frequency used in English:

the most common position for adverbs of frequency
is between the subject and the verb; this is the
grammatically correct way to place them.

Examples

They often meet friends and have
a drink together.

Exception
With sentences that use the verb to be, the
adverb of frequency is placed after the verb

Example

There are always lots of people in the city
centre on Saturday nights

it is possible to place the adverbs sometimes
and usually at the beginning of the sentence

Example

Sometimes she does her homework with friends.

What is it used for?

indicate the place where an
action took place or developed.

MANNER

What is it used for?

are invariable words that modify verbs, adjectives
and other adverbs. They indicate how an action occurs
or develops.

How do they form ?

In general, adverbs of manner are constructed
from an adjective by adding the suffix -ly to the
end of the word:
