How much does it cost? Why?

Broccoli use to be more expensive because it was in short supply due to floods. Now it is plentiful.

Frozen - $1.82 per pound

Fresh Heads- $1.92 per pound

Fresh Florets- $2.36 per pound

Is it a common part of our diet?

Yes, Broccoli is a good carb and is high in fiber, which aids in digestion, prevents constipation, maintains low blood sugar, and curbs overeating. Along with this, broccoli is also great for weight loss.

Who eats it?

Insects: Cabbage Worms or Aphids

Deer

Gophers

Rabbits

Humans

What are it's growing conditions?

Heads and florets reach harvest in 60-150 days

Seeds have to be planted in field or plant beds

Moderate to cool climates

What are the politics behind it?

Most recently Obama wanted Americans to eat more healthy so someone created "Can President Barack Obama and Congress enact legislation that orders Americans to buy broccoli?" The answer was no since they can't force people to eat healthy since it will be a dangerous use of power and it goes against the laws and traditions of the United States.

Farmers from California were outraged and sent 10 ton to the White House.

Broccoli was banned from the Air Force by President George HW Bush because he did not like it.
